Digital battery passports: the deadline reaches the factory floor
18 February 2027 is more than a date in a compliance calendar. The QR code must already be on the pack when the battery is placed on the market, so data design, serial generation and label printing must enter the industrial schedule earlier. LMT batteries have no minimum capacity threshold under this rule.
The article also clarifies responsibility: the obligated party is not necessarily the cell manufacturer, but the economic operator selling or importing the battery into the Union market.
From a QR code to an NFC-verifiable identity
A QR code makes the passport reachable, but it can be photographed and reprinted. Stele Passport can pair it with a cryptographic, tamper-evident NFC tag, allowing a scan to verify the physical label rather than only the existence of a digital page.
